Window Pane Pants

Goddess and the Baker

I had been invited to the press preview of our newest coffee shop, Goddess and the Baker here in Brookfield, WI. Unfortunately, I was very sick that day and could not attend. But a week later I met with my photographer Amanda to talk business, snap some blog pics and have the best lunch!

You cannot be inside Goddess and the Baker and be unhappy! The sounds, the giant windows and naturals light, the light fixtures, the furniture, the colors, patterns and wood tones…SO many good vibes and happy eyes. Not to mention, the really amazing menu, bakery display and barista drinks!

Window Pane Pants

From the beginning of the Fall season I’d been dying to try some of these trendy ruffle waisted plaid and window pane pants I’d been seeing in the stores. A lot of the pants I’m seeing are grey, black and white plaid patterns. So when I was out shopping, this window pane pattern really caught my attention. Then I put them on and was immediately happy and feeling fabulous. But the real tough part about this trendy pant style is what top to pair with them… To keep it simple, classic and trending lightly, I went with a not so basic black turtle neck. This one has a mock neck, draped fabric and bell cuffs. The pair felt so smart and chic together!

Why it works:

As a petite woman, just shy of 5’2″, the window pane pants fit pretty perfectly without needing to be hemmed. But for any height, you want your ankles to be showing. The ruffle detail makes the waist of the pants feel even higher. Therefore, the top needs to be cropped, tight and/or tucked in. A mock or turtleneck works SO well with these pants because it mimics the ruffle waist and keeps the look cold weather chic.

The top paired with the window pane pants needs to be solid or almost solid as not to clash with the pattern. White, black or ivory will keep it classic. The bell cuffs and flowy fabric of my black mock neck gives very upscale and feminine feel to this outfit. Leather bag is also black, but again, far from basic with it’s basket weave. Classic black pump is a must with this look, and the sheen of the patent is just perfect with the rest of the black pieces.
