Gregory and I were married at the end of August 2015, during the few months out of the year when the Midwest weather is nice and warm. (Full wedding post here!) Might not be a time to fly away to a tropical honeymoon. We wanted to wait for when we really needed a break from the Wisconsin Winter. So we planned a mini-moon to Lake Geneva, WI for an immediate newlywed getaway and a place to decompress from all the wedding madness!

We left right from the hotel after our post wedding brunch, and checked in at the Grand Geneva Resort. This was such an amazing idea by my husband and MUCH needed downtime for a just married couple! A getaway just close enough to drive to, and far enough away to feel like a vacation. Not to mention an amazing pool area, golf course and 3 restaurants right in the resort. The comfort and convenience was perfect for this tired bride.

I think this was possibly one of the most relaxing getaways I’ve ever had. Most of our mini-moon was spent sitting by the pool sipping drinks, reminiscing about our wedding day and fantasizing about our future. Every morning we brunched with great food and a lovely view full of yellow daisies. Every night we got dressed, walked down for a great dinner, and walked right back down the halls to our suite. We literally did not leave the resort for the first 3 days!

Eventually we decided to go explore despite the 90 degree temps. Greg and I made our way over to the actual lake of Lake Geneva. How quaint it was! People swimming, people boating, a dad and his sons jumping off the dock over and over. Surrounding the lake are cute houses, all with docks and little boats. We stopped into local shops and admired the old architecture, like the cutest little chapel with red doors.

One more fantastic dinner and night in our mini-moon suite, then we packed up all of our cards and gifts and flowers living in our SUV turned greenhouse. Checked out of the Grand Geneva and headed back to the Henesy House to start our new lives as husband and wife!
