Lilac Morning
Memorial Day morning I woke up way too early and was entranced by the amazing Wisconsin weather. The early sun was shining, energies were swirling and I wanted to celebrate how much I loved living in my life…. I decided to grab my camera and head out to shoot the giant lilac bush I had been scoping out in the neighborhood! Lilacs are almost my absolute favorite flower, second only to peonies. *That ranking is base solely on the lifespan of each flower once it’s cut. Lilacs also feel very special because their presence is fleeting. Beautiful blooms for only 2-3 weeks, then we have to wait all the way until next year! SO happy that I had my lilac morning when I did, as the flowers faded only days later.
Treated myself to a few clippings afterwards. Brought them home to trim and place in a vase, then in my space. Confession: The vase is actually a wine decanter. Glass is fragile, but so are the lilacs! And I was really drawn to the shape to highlight the big lilac blooms. The bouquet made our Memorial Day patio brunch SO pretty and practically perfect. This lilac morning just kept getting better! Finally I moved the fragrant flora into the house for my optimum visual and aromatic enjoyment. The lilacs in my living room added so much happiness to the space and very much made me love living in my life! Hope you enjoyed reliving my lovely lilac morning with me, and that you also have your favorite flower in your space… Even if it’s just for a day!
