Leather Skirt for a Lunch Date

A couple weeks back we had a babysitter planned and the opportunity for a much needed date night. Then the question was where to go for an adult dinner out for the first time in months? My husband works in downtown Milwaukee and heard there was a new restaurant in the Westin Milwaukee. I love checking out new spots, so we made reservations and headed out.

After dining in the Chicago restaurant scene for over a decade, I feel my standards are a wee bit high. But once I was 4 feet in to Stella Van Buren I wanted to start clapping dramatically! The interior design, upscale vibes and service were all on point. Right away I knew I had to come back and see Stella in the daylight. So I invited another blogger Colors of Mei, to meet me for a lunch date.

Today I’m sharing the photos I snapped of my favorite new spot and this leather skirt look for my lunch date…

…what a perfect opportunity to wear my leather skirt again and style it for Fall/Winter. It was a chilly day and I wanted to feel cozy and chic at the same time. So I paired a boxy, black and white marled sweater with the midi leather skirt.

Why this works- The skirt is mid-length, giving it a “cropped” feel. This is balanced by the 3/4 “cropped” sleeves of the sweater. (If your sleeves aren’t 3/4, just push them up.) Because the sweater is black and white marled, it looks busy, which adds interest and a few shades of grey into the outfit. The look stays chic and clean being balanced by the solid black leather. In addition, sweater is front-tucked only, to stay on trend. Finally, due to the skirt length, the nude strappy sandals are a must to elongate the legs.

*This pretty pink cocktail is their Botanico Ubriaco, and was dangerously delicious!

**Thanks to my new friend Mei for her photography skills!

***And I already have plans to return to Stella Van Buren this weekend for one of my best friend’s birthdays!
