This afternoon with Lillian was not the first, and I’m sure won’t be the last time that I’m the only mom at the park wearing a dress. Maybe I’m crazy for getting dressed up in mom life. Maybe I’m just a fashion fanatic. Maybe looking good just makes me feel good and love living in my life!

Even if we don’t go anywhere besides the pin wheel at the corner of our block, most days I’m dressed and ready so I still feel like a productive human being in stay-at-home-mom life. This is important for me. I was dying to get back into regular jeans ASAP postpartum. Robe life is great…until about 2:30pm, you haven’t showered and start questioning what you’re doing with your life. So this day, I put on a new blue linen midi-dress, tied a bandana headband in and went about momming.

Why it works:

First, it’s a dress. One piece to pick out and only accessories to coordinate. Second, the beautiful blue color. Each year while shopping for Summer pieces I am always drawn to these shades of sky blue. It makes us think of a clear sunny day and looks good on all skin tones. Third, it’s a midi-dress. Which means I didn’t have to hem it. Which means it’s great for different heights too. I did like the flowy dress as it was (and immediately thought that it’d be cute with a little baby bump too!), but I am NOT pregnant this summer and accenting my waist gives more shape to my petite frame.

I already owned this cognac belt and pair of sandals. The blue and cognac leather compliment each other so nicely. Not to mention the cognac matches the wood stain on the blue basket bag! I’m still experimenting with what purse I want to carry along with diaper bag. For now, shoulder bags that I can easy access while wearing diaper bag are the most functional. This one was too perfect with the midi-dress to pass up!
